For Beef & Stout, Chicken & Ham, Chicken Curry, Steak & Kidney and Steak & Onion. Use the label on the particular pie for its exact cooking instructions.
How are the pies supplied?
All five fillings come frozen in cases of 6 × 280 g: six individual pies, with a net weight of 1.68 kg per case. Each filling has its own product code, so you can order by variety and plan portions for service.
Should I cook from frozen or thaw first?
Check the packaging for the variety you are preparing. Supplied frozen does not automatically mean ready to go straight into the oven. If thawing is required, use the refrigerator and follow the label’s storage period. See EFSA’s general guidance on safe defrosting.
What oven temperature and cooking time should I use?
Follow the pack instructions for the exact product, oven type and stated starting condition: frozen or thawed. Preheat as directed and follow any instructions about removing packaging or using a tray. Use the directions for your chosen filling and pack; do not substitute a programme for a different pie. Ask for the product sheet.
How do I check that the pie is heated through?
Check the centre of the filling; pastry colour alone is not a reliable check. Use a clean, calibrated probe thermometer and follow your kitchen’s food-safety procedure. As general guidance, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland specifies a core temperature of 75 °C. This is a temperature inside the food, not an oven setting or a FreshCut baking programme.
How should I store the pies before service?
Keep the pies frozen at the storage temperature shown on the packaging and observe the date on the label. Plan the portions needed for service and keep the product and batch details with your stock. Follow any separate instructions for storage after thawing or opening.
Where can I find ingredients and allergens?
Use the current label or specification sheet for the particular filling. Do not carry information across from another variety: the fillings differ. Check the allergens in mash, gravy, sauces and any other sides you add to the finished dish too.
